'I want to be a Farmer'
John and Linda Stanley, the owners of Chestnut Brae have been involved with farmers and horticulturists all their lives, but primarily in the marketing side.Three years ago they took the plunge and bought a farm.
Making a difference means doing it differently. This is what we are doing at Chestnut Brae. We have been called "Unconventional Farmers" We have crop, sweet chestnuts, that most Australian's have little understanding of and what to do with. We are developing new ways of serving chestnuts to the consumer. That includes chestnut fed pork, chestnut ice cream, chestnut puree. The key to making this happen was to invest in a chestnut peeling machine, the only one in WA to allow us to peel the nut.
