Ross O' Meara - Bruny Island Food
Ross O'Meara is a chef-turned farmer and producer making small goods from the free range, rare breed pork he raises on his small farm on Bruny Island, Tasmania.
After 20 years in kitchens in Australia and elsewhere, Ross ventured to Bruny Island 8 years ago to camp for a few days and never left. Working as a cheese maker kept him occupied for the next couple of years, then an almost accidental purchase of a small farm motivated him to start breeding berkshire pigs and start a market business in partnership with Matthew Evans. Initially using the services of a local butcher, Ross, also a licensed game harvester, now does all the value adding in his kitchen on the farm under his own label, Bruny Island Food.
